The History of Boxing

Boxing has been around for a long time. Although it is not as popular as football or soccer in the US, it can be considered one of the oldest sports in the world. It has also been the subject of many great Hollywood movies and one of the most followed events.

One of Boxing’s most famous moments was when Muhammad Ali fought Joe Frazier in 1971. The fight lasted 14 rounds, with Ali winning on points. Then, in 1975, Ali fought George Foreman and won by knockout for the second time in 8 years!

In more recent history, Floyd Mayweather Jr retired with a perfect record of 50-0 after fighting Conor McGregor in 2017. This set him above Rocky Marciano, who had 49-0 before he retired from Boxing.

The Best Events To Watch

There are so many boxing events happening throughout the year. It can be tough to figure out which ones are worth watching. Below, we’ll cover all of the best boxing events throughout the year. So stay up to date on what’s happening in the sport.

The first event is March 3rd, and it’s a World Boxing Super Series match between George Groves, and Chris Eubank Jr. Groves is a former WBA (Super), IBF, and WBO champion who lost his world title in 2017 when he was beaten by new champion, Callum Smith. Eubank Jr., meanwhile, is the current IBO champion with an impressive record of 27 wins and only one loss in 28 bouts.

The second event will occur on April 7th, and it’s a 12-round bout for the WBC world middleweight championship between Gennady Golovkin and Saul Alvarez. Though Golovkin has been dominant for years now, this will be his first official fight since September 2018, when he beat Vanes Martirosyan in a non-title fight. Since September, Alvarez has also been on hiatus after he won against Rocky Fielding in Madison Square Garden.

Another great event happens on May 4th because it’s Manny Pacquiao vs. Keith Thurman for the WBA welterweight title. This will be a good fight because they’re both undefeated fighters with powerful punches which haven’t been beaten yet. The

Learn About The Different Rankings

There are three different rankings for Boxing: the World Boxing Association (WBA), the World Boxing Organization (WBO), and the International Boxing Federation (IBF). Each organization has its own set of rankings, so you’ll want to check them all out if you’re interested in knowing more about what’s happening in Boxing.

The WBA is the oldest boxing organization globally, with a ranking system that’s been used since 1977. The WBO was established in 1988. The IBF was established in 2011 after it split from the WBA. They have a newer system that ranks even more fighters than the WBO does. Regional organizations like the North American Boxing Association (NABA) and the Intercontinental Boxing Association are also regional organizations, but they don’t rank as many fighters.

How Boxing Affects Our Lives

Boxing is a dangerous sport. It can cause long-term damage to your brain and other organs, not to mention permanent blindness or death. But what many don’t know is that Boxing also has benefits for your health and the economy!

Boxing helps with fitness. Many boxers start as overweight teens who want to get into shape. Boxing is one of the best ways to get a good workout without special equipment or formal training. Getting in shape has many health benefits like improved bone density, weight loss, and reduced diabetes risk.

Boxing also provides people with jobs around the world. After all, there are only so many professional boxers–most have day jobs like construction, law enforcement, or teaching that help support their boxing habit. The money generated from these jobs supports the local economy and creates more opportunities for those who need it most.

Finally, Boxing helps with mental health. When all you do is hit bags or spar with other boxers for hours, you’re bound to get frustrated about something eventually! While it’s not always healthy–like when box-ers retreat inwards after a fight–it can be cathartic for some people who need an outlet for pent-up energy or aggression in a healthy way.
